After rice-planting, rice grows quickly in summer. You can find various kinds of creatures at the paddy field. Frogs are the lively ones, especially at night. Around this time, you can see the transformation of their shapes from eggs to tadpoles, then to frogs.

Besides frogs, there are river snails, tadpole shrimps, water striders, dragon flies and so on. Wild birds like herons and spot-billed ducks also come there to feed themselves. The agricultural landscape of Asuka, Yamato nestles a diversity of creatures.

Around Asuka dera temple, you can pass through farm roads. It’s a good path for the morning walk and you may find the beautiful lotuses only for a couple of weeks around this time of the year!
