In winter, you can easily encounter archaeological excavations in Asuka. In order to discover the ancient capital of 1400 years ago, some rice fields are transformed to excavation sites after the farming season.

This year, many workers excavate the garden pond site of the old imperial palace with heavy equipment. The excavated stones, glasses, wooden tablets show us the life of the ancient time through the research.
